Upcoming Journey To The Force Awakens Books To Focus On New Alien Characters

Among the new novels and comic series announced at New York Comic Con, there was also the reveal of several new “Journey to the Force Awakens” books that look to shed some light on some of the new alien characters we’ll be seeing in the movie on December 18th.

StarWars.com has posted the details on these new books, which you can check out below:

Star Wars: Tales from a Galaxy far, far away: Aliens

Scheduled for release in December, author Landry Walker announces the eBook anthology, Star Wars: Tales from a Galaxy far, far away: Aliens, featuring four background aliens from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The individual stories/aliens are “High Noon on Jakku,” “All Creatures Great and Small,” “The Face of Evil,” and “The Crimson Corsair and the Treasure of Count Dooku.” In addition to being part of the “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” program, these four stories will be collected into a print version — along with two more stories to be named later — on sale in April, 2017. The stories will feature art by ILM artist Tyler Scarlett.

Veteran Star Wars author, Michael Siglain, discusses Delilah Dawson’s Star Wars: The Perfect Weapon, which focuses on the character of Bazine from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The eShort story is due to arrive this November.

Star Wars: Bait

Michael Siglain announces another short story, Star Wars: Bait, which focuses on the character of Grumgarr from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Written by Alan Dean Foster, this title is due for release this December.

It’s really cool that we’ll be getting stories about the new alien characters we’ll see in “The Force Awakens,” as it reminds me of the old days when we got books like “Tales from Jabba’s Palace,” and “Tales of the Bounty Hunters.” I mean, how can you not be intrigued by the title of “The Crimson Corsair and the Treasure of Count Dooku” ?!

“The Perfect Weapon” will also gives a story for a character we’ve already seen before which is cool. As we got our first look at Bazine from the Vanity Fair issue back in May, and in the behind the scenes video from Comic Con.
