Two Star Wars VR Games Revealed

Two new “Star Wars” games have been revealed today at the Games Developer Conference, and both will be taking advantage of some of the new virtual reality gaming hardware.

First revealed was a new project called “Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine” for the HTC Vive platform, and was developed by the Lucasfilm Story Group, ILMxLAB ,and Skywalker Sound. This is not a fully announced game, but rather a demo of what Lucasfilm has planned to release on the HTC Vive platform. “Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine” is a first-person demo made in the Unreal Engine, and takes place after “Return of the Jedi,” where the player gets to be Luke Skywalker’s new Jedi apprentice, as you’re waiting on a delivery from Han and Chewie on Tatooine. The developers also note that the stories and experiences they come up with for these future “Star Wars” VR games will all be canon.

You can check out out a trailer for “Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine” in the video below, and some hands on impression of the demo over at IGN.

The other revealed game is something that’s more concrete, as Sony revealed today that  “Star Wars Battlefront Experience” is coming to the PlayStation VR.

We have to wait on more details for the Battlefront game, but the possibility of playing Star Wars Battlefront in virtual reality sounds exciting! Lets just hope these new VR “Star Wars” games turn out better than “Star Wars Kinect” did!
