Rogue One Gets A New Composer In Michael Giacchino

The Hollywood Reporter has learned some surprising news regarding “Rogue One,” as they have revealed that Michael Giacchino will now score the music for the film.

The music for “Rogue One” was originally supposed to be scored by Alexandre Desplat, but The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the recent re-shoots for the film conflicted with Desplat’s schedule, causing him to drop out, and Giacchino to step in.

Michael Giacchino is no stranger to scoring music for big movies, which include the new Star Trek and many Pixar films, and is someone who’s name even came up among fans to score Episode VII if John Williams wasn’t able to come back. But now he will for sure be known as the first composer to score a “Star Wars” film other than John Williams.

While this was definitely a surprise to learn, Michael Giacchino definitely has the resume to insure that he will deliver a great score for a “Star Wars” film. I just hope he wasn’t brought in at the very last moment so he that he had enough time to come up with some great themes that every “Star Wars” movie deserves.

You can check out the full story of Michael Giacchino scoring “Rogue One” over at The Hollywood Reporter.
