New Details Revealed For The Upcoming Star Wars Land At Disney Parks

Today at the Star Wars and Disney Parks panel at Celebration Orlando, some new details were provided about the upcoming Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland and Disney World in 2019.

First off, a new behind the scenes video featuring Disney imagineers and some familiar Lucasfilm faces such as Dave Filoni, Rian Johnson, Doug Chiang, and Kiri Hart was shown, where they talk about the development of the attractions, and it even provides us with a quick look at what the Millennium Falcon ride may look like. You can check it out in the video above.

As for the new details revealed about Star Wars Land, IGN was present for the panel and has provided the details on the new information about what was revealed for Star Wars Land, and it all sounds pretty cool!

First off, they say that immersion is the key to Star Wars Land, with the hope of putting you in the middle of a Star Wars story, where you will encounter familiar droids and aliens, but also be in new environments with new characters.

New details were also provided about the planet Star Wars Land will take place on, saying it used to be a vibrant port with a history that goes back thousands of years, but will now be a place filled with smugglers, bounty hunters, and other scum and villainy trying to hide away from the greater galaxy.  In IGN’s article, Pablo Hildago said at the panel that this planet is being developed like any other planet would for “Star Wars,” meaning they know where it sits on the official map, and said “we’ve examined what the ramifications of putting it there are.”

As for the two main attractions of “Star Wars Land,” it was revealed at the panel that you will be given the choice to either fight with the Resistance, or for the First Order in the conflict that will take place on this world. But the really cool stuff comes from the new info about the Millennium Falcon ride. While we knew that we would be able to ride on the Falcon when Star Wars Land was first announced, it has now been revealed that we will actually get to pilot and control the iconic ship! It was said at the panel that “the experience is up to you and your flight crew,” and that the results of what happens on those flights will vary depending on the actions you take while on the ride.

But what I find really cool is that your flight experience on the Falcon isn’t just limited to that ride, but will actually affect your experience in other areas of the park! Pablo said that “you can essentially build a reputation in the Star Wars world.”

More details about Star Wars Land are sure to come from know and until it opens in 2019, but so far it’s all sounding like a Star Wars experience like no other!
