In a bit of unexpected but more than welcome news, it has been revealed that John Williams will be contributing to the score of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” as he will be composing the main theme for the film, with composer John Powell doing the full score.
John Williams revealed his involvement with “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” in the following interview with Variety:
“The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly.”
“His assignment is something I’m very happy about. What I will do is offer this to John, and to [director] Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy. … John [Powell] will complete the score. He will write all the rest of the themes and all of the other material, which I’m going to be very anxious to hear.”
John Williams has already created some great new themes in this new era of “Star Wars” with “The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi,” so I obviously can’t wait to hear the theme he comes up with for one of the saga’s greatest characters!
