New Solo: A Star Wars Story Images From Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly has released several very cool new images from “Solo: A Star Wars Story” as part of their coverage as well as some more specific details on some of the main characters.

You can check out some of those new photos below, as well as some new details go along with them, including the reveal of a new, but familiar planet we will be seeing:

Writer Lawrence Kasdan describes Han and Chewies relationship in the film as a bromance saying, “To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie. Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy. Wookiees have so many positive qualities. But what they don’t do is make it easy for you to get in.”

Alden Ehrenreich describes Han as an idealist in this film saying, “He has certain dreams that he follows, and we watch how it affects him as those dreams meet new realities — realities that are harder and more challenging than he’d expected.”

As for Emilia Clarke’s new character Qi’Ra, its revealed that she has grown up with Han on the streets, and is described as the film’s noir’s mystery woman. “She has a couple of guises, but essentially she is just fighting to stay alive,” Emilia Clarke says. “If you’ve got a really glamorous lady in a really sordid environment, you kind of know the glamor is hiding a few rough roads,”

Woody Harrelson’s is indeed playing a mentor figure to Han with his character of Tobias Beckett, but is a criminal who is hoping to make a big score to elevate his status. Director Ron Howard says ”He’s a powerful criminal, but a free agent. “Tobias Beckett really shapes Han more than anybody, as Han comes to believe that in a lawless time, he needs a moral code.”

And in the final image released, we get to see a new planet called Mimban. It is a swamp marshland planet that has an atmosphere full of thunderstorms, but is also a planet that fans have seen in a Legends story before, as it first appeared in the classic “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” novel back in 1978.

I love these new images, and I’m just digging the vibe this movie is putting off the more I see and hear about it. You can check out a few more images of the film over at Entertainment Weekly
