The last bit of big news we got today from the “Star Wars” presentation at D23 was something that fans have been hoping for ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm. Star Wars themed lands at Disney Parks!
Well that dream is finally happening, as Bob Iger announced that Star Wars themed lands will be coming to Disneyland in Anaheim, as well as Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando. The Star Wars lands in both parks will be a massive 14-acres each, becoming Disney’s largest single-themed land, where guests will travel to a never-before-seen planet where they say we’ll see “Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.”
But probably the best part about the Star Wars lands so far, they each will have two signature attractions where one of them will be the ability to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission! How cook is that?!
Here’s what Bob Iger had to say about this big announcement from StarWars.com, as well as some concept art of the new land:
“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars. Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore.”
Definitely some awesome news, but this is really just the tip of the iceberg of all the exciting possibilities a Star Wars themed land can have. It’s going to be lots of fun learning about it over the next few years, so stay tuned as more info about the Star Wars themed lands get revealed!
