There have been reports about Lucasfilm returning to Skellig Michael in Ireland later this month for some filming, and while Ireland’s arts minister confirmed this would be the case, we still didn’t know for sure just which “Star Wars” movie would be filming there. Would it be for some “The Force Awakens” re-shoots? Early filming for Episode VIII?
Well now we know for sure that shooting at Skellig Michael later this month will indeed be for Episode VIII, as Entertainment Weekly has posted a story about the shoot today, where Lucasfilm confirmed to them it will be for Episode VIII. According to Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm said that “the confusion came from them trying to stay low-key and using the title ‘Star Wars’ without differentiating between the films.”
Now the question is just what sequence are they filming at Skellig Michael this month, and how does it tie into Episode VII? Well there are plenty of rumors and speculation out there on what takes place in the story at this location, but we will get a much better idea in just 99 days when “The Force Awakens” hits theaters!
