Some disappointing news has come out today, as the Obi Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+ has been delayed.
Collider was the first to report that the series is being put on hold due to Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm not being happy with the current scripts, which has been confirmed by several trade sites.
The Hollywood Reporter also shared some more details, saying that only two scripts were written, and that the story was the issue. One source told them that Lucasfilm felt it was too similar to “The Mandalorian.” They’re also reporting that it’s possible the episode count may drop from six episodes, to only four.
The good news though is that both sites are saying that Ewan McGregor, and director Deborah Chow are still attached to the series.
While this is definitely a bummer, I don’t think it’s time to panic or worry that the series may be canceled. We’ll see what develops in the coming months, but for right now it’s best to just heed Obi Wan’s words. “Patience.”
