The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that according to their sources, Peter Mayhew will indeed be back as Chewbacca In Episode VII. There have been reports over the last few weeks saying Peter has had to cancel some convention appearances in the month of May due to his shooting schedule, and it has been widely speculated that what he would be shooting during that time was Episode VII.
While The Hollywood Reporter is a good source for accurate news, this still doesn’t mean Peter Mayhew is confirmed to be in Episode VII until we hear the official word from Lucasfilm and Disney. But with this news coming from The Hollywood Reporter, hopefully Peter Mayhew is one of those “very familiar faces” we’ll be seeing in Episode VII that was mentioned in the filming announcement a few weeks ago.
The official casting announcement is coming sooner rather than later, and it will be great to finally get the official word on who from the original trilogy will back in Episode VII once it does.
