A new article over at USA Today has a little bit of new info on Director Orsen Krennic’s place in the Empire when we see him in “Rogue One,” as they spoke to Director Gareth Edwards about his and actor Ben Mendelsohn’s approach to the character.
Here is what Gareth Edwards told USA Today about where Director Orsen Krennic fits within the Empire, and how he’s different from the other Imperial Officers:
“It feels like if the Empire ever have a job vacancy, they go to the Royal Shakespeare Company to headhunt people. I like the idea that Ben’s character was much more working-class and rose in the ranks through sheer force of personality and ideas.”
“Krennic hits a brick wall in the hierarchy where they won’t let him in the club and it’s going to turn into a them-or-us situation: either Krennic or Tarkin and the others.”
As we have speculated before, it definitely sounds like Krennic will be coming to blows with the higher ups in the Empire by the time the movie is over. And if the latest trailer is any indication, the higher up we’re going to see him come to blows with will probably be Darth Vader!
