Get ready for a new comic miniseries focusing on a particular character from the “Star Wars” universe this summer, as Marvel has just announced we’re getting a Mace Windu comic this August!
The title will be called “Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic — Mace Windu,” and will be written by Matt Owens with art by Denys Cowan. It will be a five issue series that will focus on Mace right at the beginning of the Clone Wars.
Here is the official description released for the new comic:
For over a thousand generations, the Jedi have been the peacekeepers of the galaxy…but now, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, they find themselves in a new role: generals in the Army of the Republic. As Mace Windu, one of the Jedi’s greatest warriors, leads a small unit of Jedi into battle shortly after the war begins, the Jedi must make peace with their new role, or be lost to the violence around them!
I’m all for more comic stories set in the prequel era, but what has me curious is the main title of the comic, “Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic.” Could Mace Windu just be the first of many Jedi characters to get his own miniseries under the “Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic” banner? I certainty hope so, as that could be a cool way to get new stories of other Jedi characters on a regular basis.
