Entertainment Weekly had a different kind of article for their coverage of “The Last Jedi” today, as this one isn’t about any new character details we will see in the film, but actually confirmation on someone we wont see in Episode VIII.
Yes, sadly Entertainment Weekly has now confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will not appear in “The Last Jedi” as Lando, as Director Rian Johnson told them the disappointing news
“No, and I don’t want fans to get their hopes up,” writer-director Rian Johnson tells EW. “He’s not in the film and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character. It would have been fun to see him, but it’s just not something that ever really had a place in the story.”
While being so close to the release of the film and not hearing anything about Billy Dee Williams being involved already made it highly unlikely we would see Lando in Episode VIII, but there was always still a chance that he might of had a small cameo appearance as a surprise, but now we know even that wont be the case.
