(Update: Nerdist has now posted a video of their interview with Jon Favreau from last night’s Solo premiere, where it turns out he actually said the TV series will take place seven years after the Battle of Yavin, and not Endor as stated in the original tweet. But that still sets the series three years after “Return of the Jedi.” You can check out the interview in the video below.)
Original Post:
While at the red carpet premiere for “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” director and current producer of the upcoming live-action “Star Wars” TV series shared a few details about the show when talking to Nerdist’s Senior Editor, Dan Casey.
In Dan Casey’s tweet about his conversation with Favreau, he revealed that the series will take place seven years after “Return of the Jedi, will feature all brand new characters, and use the same technology he used on his live-action “Jungle Book” movie.
Here is the tweet from Dan Casey:
Exclusive: @Jon_Favreau confirms that his live action #StarWars series takes place 7 years after Battle of Endor, between #ReturnOfTheJedi and #TheForceAwakens. Will feature all new characters, using cutting edge tech a la THE JUNGLE BOOK. Story coming to @nerdist… pic.twitter.com/iRyPS8hPDR

I wasn’t expecting to get any news regarding the live-action “Star Wars” series tonight, but I will gladly take it, especially when it’s details like this that get me really excited for it! When the series was first announced, I was hoping it would be set in era that wasn’t during the original trilogy, so I’m really glad to hear it will be taking place in the much unexplored thirty two years between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.”
Stay tuned to Nerdist who says they will have a full write up on their conversation with Jon Favreau soon.
