Looks like we got our first bit of casting news for Episode IX today, as Variety is reporting that actress Keri Russell, best known for her role in the 90’s series “Felicity,” has joined the cast of final chapter of the sequel trilogy.
Keri Russell has worked with J.J. Abrams in the past, as he was one of the creators of the show “Felicity,” and she also stared in “Mission: Impossible III,” which Abrams directed.
Not much is revealed about her role in Episode IX, but Variety reports that the role requires some action-heavy fight scenes, and that J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm met with several different actresses for this part over the last two months, and chose Keri Russell right before the fourth of July. They also said that J.J. Abrams is looking to cast two more actors before shooting begins.
It’s kind of crazy to think that we’re already getting casting announcements for Episode IX, and with shooting about to begin at the end of this month, we should hopefully be hearing more news about the film’s cast soon!
