The final chapter of the Skywalker saga is officially underway, as production has now begun on Episode IX.
Director J.J. Abrams took to twitter to share some heartfelt words on beginning production today, as well as even giving us a small look at a scene being filmed from behind the camera!
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX pic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5

I think it’s really cool of J.J. to mark the beginning of filming on Episode IX with some nice words giving thanks to George Lucas, Rian Johnson, as well as acknowledging Carrie Fisher, and the fact that he even included a behind-the-scenes image for us fans to geek out about was a welcomed surprise! It just feels right that our first look at Episode IX be one on the Falcon with Rey, Finn and Chewie.
Let the fun of following the production of Episode IX all the way until its release begin!
