Last week we found out when we would be getting the next wave of new “Star Wars” films after “The Rise of Skywalker,” and while it was revealed then that the first new movie after Episode IX would release in 2022, we were still left wondering who’s film it was going to be.
Well today during a Q&A at the MoffettNathanson Media & Communications Summit, Bob Iger revealed that it will be the “Game of Thrones” show runners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss “Star Wars” project that will be the first new film released in 2022 after “The Rise of Skywalker.”
This was first reported in a couple of tweets from Attractions Magazine, who were there covering the event.
They also reported that another live-action “Star Wars” series will be coming to Disney+ after “The Mandalorian” and the Cassian Andor series.
This news isn’t really too surprising, as all signs pointed to Benioff and Weiss’ project to be first up when it came to the next new films after Episode IX, but it’s always good to get this information confirmed. Now we just need to find out what exactly this new “Star Wars” film is going to be about!
