D23 continues today with some more cool “Star Wars” news, and it’s all about “The Rise of Skywalker!”
First revealed was an awesome new poster for the film featuring Rey and Kylo Ren facing off in a lightsaber duel, with a certain Sith lord looming in the background with a smirk on his face!
There was also some new footage shown, but right now that footage isn’t online yet, but Entertainment Weekly did confirm that it will be online this coming Monday, and I can’t wait to see it, as it ends on a pretty big reveal!
Here’s how Entertainment Weekly described the new footage that was shown:
Images include a dual between Rey and Kylo Ren amid a stormy sea (transposed into a space backdrop on the poster). There’s a massive fleet of Star Destroyers. There’s a new shot of Darth Vader’s helmet. There’s Finn (John Boyega) and a new character named Jannah (Naomi Ackie) together in a cockpit. C-3PO with red eyes. A new glimpse of Leia (the late Carrie Fisher). A gang of heroes approaching a bustling desert city. But the shot that truly stunned the crowd was a scene with Rey in a hooded black robe revealing an unfolding red double-sided lightsaber (Darth Rey?!).
Needless to say, seeing Rey appearing to have gone to the darkside and using a double-bladed lightsaber sounds amazing just on a visual level, but obviously it’s going to open a lot of speculation on what it could mean for the story, and I can’t wait to see it all play out!
