Some really sad news to report today, as Peter Mayhew has passed away at the age of 74.
“Star Wars” fans of course know Peter Mayhew for playing Chewbacca with five “Star Wars” films since the very beginning in “A New Hope,” and embodied so much of why we all loved Chewie in his performance.
His family made the announcement in the following tweet:
Peter Mayhew’s contributions to the “Star Wars” saga can not be understated, as his portrayal of Chewie made the character one of the most recognizable, and lovable characters in film history.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the Mayhew family during this difficult time.
