EA held their annual EA Play press conference today, and while Star Wars wasn’t a huge focus this year, we did get some news regarding Star Wars Battlefront II, and finally some info on Respawn’s game.
First up for Battlefront II, The Clone Wars season was officially announced, and will feature Geonosis as their biggest map they ever created. And for the new hero characters coming, we’re not just getting two new playable heroes like normal, but four! Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, and General Grievous.
Needles to say, as huge a Clone Wars fan who’s been waiting for that era to get a season, I am super excited about this news!
They also announced some new modes coming to “Star Wars Battlefront II” in the coming months, including a new squad system that will make it easier to team up and play with friends, a new Starfighter mode that will allow players to play some dogfight matches using just hero ships, and a new mode that will have players taking command posts, as well as attacking capital ships. Could this finally be the mode that allows us to play on the planet’s surface, and then go into space like we’ve seen in all those leaked Battlefront III videos from years ago? Here’s hoping!
As for the news regarding Respawn’s game, the title and era for it was finally revealed. The game will be called “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order,” and will be set between Episodes III-IV. No official date was given, but the game will be coming out during the holiday 2019 season, and just in time for Episode IX!
The “Star Wars” news was minimal this year at E3, but it was definitely good news none the less getting the details on the Clone Wars season and new modes for “Star Wars Battlefront II” that sound really cool, and finally getting some info on Respawn’s game with “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.”
