We now offcially know when the cameras will start rolling on Episode VII! It was announced today over at StarWars.com that shooting will begin in May of this year at Pinewood Studios in London, and will be the first Star Wars film to begin shooting in the month of May.
But probably more interesting than the shooting announcement that was made, was that StarWars.com also revealed that Episode VII will be set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi,” and “will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.” I think we can all guess that the term “familiar faces” is referring to the return of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, even though nothing is mentioned of them specifically, but it is great to know that the new lead characters in the movie will be a trio. Hopefully what’s next is the casting announcement of this new trio, and the familiar faces!
You can check out the full announcement over at StarWars.com, which also has a nice breakdown of when all the previous six movies began filming.
