Jack Thorne To Write Episode IX

(Update: Rian Johnson took to twitter to make a small correction on The Hollywood Reporter story, saying he did not write a treatment for Episode IX)

The Hollywood Reporter has just dropped some new Episode IX news today, as they are reporting that Jack Thorne will be writing a new draft for the next chapter in the sequel trilogy.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Colin Trevorrow and writing partner Derek Connolly had written the most recent draft for the film, and were working off a treatment by Rian Johnson, but now Jack Thorne will be working on a new draft for the film before cameras start rolling in January 2018.

While I’m not familiar with Jack Thorne’s work, his credits include such British television shows as the “The Fades,” “The Cast-Offs,” “The Last Panthers,” “National Treasure,” and more recent fantasy shows like “His Dark Materials” and “Philip K. Dick’s Electric Sheep.”

So far in this new era of “Star Wars” films, new writers coming in to work on the script by is nothing new, as “The Force Awakens” and “Rouge One” went through the same thing, and both turned out great. I’m confident we’ll be saying the same thing for Episode IX after we see it on May 24, 2019.
