Unfortunately it has happened again. Another “Star Wars” film has lost it’s director, as Lucasfilm has officially announced that they and Colin Trevorrow are parting ways on Episode IX.
Here is the official statement from StarWars.com:
Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.
This is really disappointing. As a big fan of what he did with “Jurassic World,” I was looking forward to seeing how Colin Trevorrow was going to conclude the sequel trilogy. The good thing is, at least this happened before production officially began on Episode IX, unlike the Han Solo film, and Lucasfilm can avoid trying to find a replacement while in the middle of production.
It will be interesting to see who Lucasfilm gets to replace Trevorrow, and if this will cause a delay for the film. Hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
